Doch Elefanten sind sensibel!
Was sie verletzt, nehmen sie übel
und merken sich das noch nach Jahren,
wie mancher Tierquäler schon hat erfahren.
Nur, weil sie groß sind, heißt das nicht,
die Seele hätte kein Gewicht.
Man bringt sie um, raubt ihre Zähne!
Mit großem Schmerz ich das erwähne.
Gar viele werden auch geschunden,
zu schwerer Arbeit, viele Stunden.
Ach, stünd' es doch in meiner Macht,
dass man dem Tun ein Ende macht!
Ich hoffe, dass noch viele Herden
