Long ago, when the world was unformed A Word was spoken in the dark Formless and empty, the world was born Yet one more word brought forth a spark A mighty cosmos, vast and bright An untamed world of vegetation Governed by a greater light That one day shone upon a nation Your servants rose and by sin fell Your prophets cried aloud before them Generations rose and swelled But graven idols, they adored them A worthy Lamb was sent for me To conquer all that we had done Your wrath you then relented from me For He ascended, He has won Now deep calls to deep And your breakers wash my shame Your spirit wakes me from my sleep To worship He who we had slain Yes, deep calls to deep I cannot deny Your glory Your wondrous act of mighty love The sacrifice Christ offered for me Your wondrous love for all your sheep Your mighty wrath against the dark Perfect Father, call my deep And once again, call forth a spark That I might shine a light anew That I might walk in fruitful love That I might give my life to You That I might see Your face above Deep calls to deep in darkest hour Deep calls to deep in brightest day Deep calls to deep and seeks Thy power That You would put my sin away Worthy is the Lamb that was slain!
