These massive cosmic objects collided with Earth, creating craters and contributing to the formation of landmasses. The resulting rocks and minerals laid the foundation for continents. The continental crust, a dense and thick layer of Earth’s crust, also played a key role. It formed from magma that welled up to the surface and solidified. This process took hundreds of millions of years, resulting in the crust upon which continents now rest. Tectonic Movements Continents are in constant motion due to tectonic movements.
