Once upon a time thousands of star fish washed up on a beach,
A little girl ran around saving each one she could reach,
A grown man came up and said, you are wasting your time,
You can’t save them all in the setting sun,
She looked at him with tears in her eyes and said,
But I can save this one
Many years later no longer a girl but still with a heart of gold,
A group of angels came up with an idea so bold,
With so many dogs in need, the ladies set up a new venture,
And that was the beginning of the Stray Dog Centre,
There are so many dogs in the UAE on the street,
Hot, sad & dirty and never enough to eat,
These Florence Nightingale’s, unsung heroes in day & night,
Set out to make a difference, set out to do what’s right,
Many said, you can’t make a difference in the hot dessert sun,
We hear their motto again,
But I can save this one
We can all make a difference but so few do nothing at all,
These ladies who give so much deserve their names on a wall,
Fiona with more dogs than most filling her heart & home,
Ludmilla who always makes sure some have a place to roam,
Seema who gives us her time every Saturday,
And Becca who does what she can, with a baby on the way,
Sarah is leaving soon and who we will all miss,
Amy came along and knew she had to be part of this,
Each of these hero’s would stand in the burning sun,
And say,
But I can save this one
