The Lighthouse

(Verse 1) Upon life's vast, tempestuous sea I was cast, With a vessel as steadfast as histories vast. A young captain, bold, pride unmasked, Sails set against winds, fate's dice uncast. (Verse 2) The waters gentle, the breezes kind, Yet the ocean, a siren with deceit entwined. From gentle whispers, warnings twined, "I defy thee!" I sang, with hubris aligned. (Chorus) But my bold defiance, the gods did spurn, Poseidon's wrath, like a furnace burn. Storms awakened, skies turned stern, The sea's fury, my prideful lesson to learn. (Verse 3) With the banshee's cry, the tempest clashed, My resolve tested, as mighty waves smashed. Yet in despair’s face, my spirit flashed, Against godly might, my defiance dashed. (Verse 4) Deceitful sea led me into the night, In darkness and storm, I lost the fight. Years of battle, my spirit’s plight, Endless night stealing hope from sight. (Chorus) But in defeat’s whisper, a light espied, A beacon in darkness, hope’s guide. Salvation’s chance, as old fears died, With new strength, the tempest defied. (Verse 5) With helm in hand, the storm I faced, Through crashing waves, my path retraced. Towards your light, through fury laced, A sanctuary in your glow embraced. (Bridge) Your beam, through darkness, a path it carved, Towards salvation, my spirit starved. With joyous tears, the shore I arched, "Not today," to Hades, my departure marched.
