Lyrics
These stones are made for stepping
I guess that’s why they’re called stepping stones
There’s ill in family, is that why we get sick of each other?
There’s teen in nicotine, is that why we start young?
And there’s can in cancer, is that why they struggle so hard? There’s an answer in cancer, but I still don’t know what it is.
I tell myself there’s meaning in everything, but maybe I’m just being mean to myself, if I dwell am I really doing well? And if sword is an anagram of words, is that why they’re sharp?
There’s rating in berating, is that we’re being judged? And there’s rent in parent, is that why we’re constantly being charged?
Maybe there isn’t a meaning in everything, but everything has every thing and nothing has not things, so I like to think that when I see words like airplane, the people that created them kept in mind the root of the definitions and prescribed or pre scribed a base meaning that we can all interpret differently. Just like we differ, and differently shares the same suffix as apparently, and it’s apparent that we’re different, because even if we share similarities, we don’t inhabit each other’s minds.
We don’t inhabit each other’s minds.
Some words have a double meaning, some words lead to innuendos, certain words said in different contexts can hold extremely different connotations, and if used incorrectly can lead to very awkward circumstances, and that’s before we even get into slang, which alters a word entirely, but I guess that’s what life is, when there’s bet in alphabet, we’re gambling with what we say, expecting things to be taken a certain way, causing arguments when we don’t feel the same as each other.
I may think differently than you, but maybe we all think similarly. I’d like to think we’re inherently good as a whole, just like there is stance in circumstances, when they change, so can our views. And there’s Ruth in truth and ruthless, is that why honesty can be seen as cruel and rude? And raw is war backwards, is that why we battle over topics that are sore?
These meanings we ascribe each other as we pass judgement on one another, just at a glance we’ve already determined how we’ll react when they open their mouths. Or just from a first impression, we’ve built their entire character in our minds. Far more easily than we’ve built something up we can tear it down, for if Rome wasn’t built in a day, is that why it takes so long to build character?
We all inherently have good intentions I’d like to assume, but you know what assuming does, and the differences in opinion are based on our own personal struggles, because you can take two identical people, but they’d still share different circumstances, because we don’t inhabit each other’s minds.
We don’t inhabit each others minds.
And I’d like to think that the majority is smart enough to realize when something is right and something is wrong, but some people need some help understanding, and that’s perfectly acceptable, because we should all help one another see our differing points of view, because we don’t inhabit each other’s minds.
We don’t inhabit each other’s minds.
