To honor a person means to respect his will,
And so it is to honor a father and mother still.
If this were not so, the righteous would transgress,
For a father and mother’s demands one cannot suppress.

Good for the God-fearing, to forego their honor’s claim,

His parents offer drink, their hands extend the cup,
Numerous are the services, they can’t give up.
A man cannot avoid what’s asked by those dear,
So to honor their will, we hold them near.
