Lyrics
Soggy Doggies
Written and illustrated by Holly Tamale
One day it began to rain, oh how the rain did pour
Then before I knew it my dog ran out the door.
I’d left the door wide open, oh how could I forget?
Now my dog was out there playing in the wet.
The rain came down harder so to my window I did run.
I began to call my doggie; begging him to come.
I knew since he was out there I was the one to blame.
As I called even louder he didn’t come to his name.
He jumped in the puddles and rolled himself around.
He splashed in the mud and all over the ground.
Now my little dogg wasn’t one bit dry.
My doggy was soggy and that is no lie!
I began to think that it was just too late,
when three more soggy doggies came running through the gate.
In came a doggie through the hole in the fence.
Two more from the bushes, just imagine the suspense.
They gathered around and started barking very loud.
Right before my eyes formed a soggy doggy crowd.
I began to yell, “Please dogs, keep quiet!”
There was no way to stop this soggy doggy riot.
I grabbed my rain coat to go set things straight.
I opened the door, the soggy doggies couldn’t wait.
They burst into the house and all over the place.
almost knocking over my mom’s favorite vase.
I opened the door the soggy doggies couldn't wait.
They burst into the house and all over the place.
almost knocking over my mom’s favorite vase.
There were blurs of soggy doggies every which way.
They didn’t want to sit. They didn’t want to stay.
I needed to think fast, what I needed was a plan.
All these soggy doggies were acting out of hand.
So through the swarm of doggies I made a little path.
I headed down the hallway to start a doggie bath.
I filled up the water half to the top.
the doggies ran in and jumped in with a hop.
once all the doggies were together in the tub.
I grabbed a brush and I started to scrub
I washed off the mud sent it right down the drain
The dogs began to sing and i joined in at the refrain.
I dried them off their fur got huge and poofy
I started to laugh, they looked a little goofy!
then the rain stopped.
Oh how the sun did shine
the dogs began to pout
for they knew it was that time.
They headed out the door single file one by one
I said good-bye to all of them “I’ll miss you guys a ton!”
My dog came running to me jumping for a hug
He had brought a towel so we could clean the rug
We started cleaning, the paw prints faded away.
No one would have known that dogs had come that day.
I looked at my dog and smiled at that mutt.
he had taught me my lesson: to keep the door shut!
