Down In The Foxhole

[Verse] There once was a mouse With a penury plight And a sly little rat With a mischievous rite. And he says to the mouse, "I can help you out, dear With riches untold In a place rather near Down in the foxhole!" [Verse 2] He told her of the riches And the scents so sweet Of the shinies to be had And the things to eat. The mouse ate it all up, And they ran away together Came to the tree Found a rope for tether To go down the foxhole. [Verse 3] "The rat said it was safe," She said in her mind As she climbed down the hole "He seems really quite kind!" But with darkness all around And snoring in her ears, The mouse found no treasure And instead her deepest fears Down in the foxhole. [Verse 1] So if you find a rat And he speaks of a place Where your dreams will come true It isn't the case! Tell him to go And leave you alone 'cause you won't be deceived And you'll never be thrown Down in a foxhole.
