The Shadows Follow Me

In the quiet corners of my mind, I feel the weight of unseen eyes, The shadows follow me, Whispering secrets I dare not hear. They dance in the corners of my room, Stretching their dark fingers, To touch the edges of my dreams, As they haunt my every moment. In the light of day they fade away, But in the dead of night, They invariably come alive, Haunting the depths of my subconscious. I try to outrun them, But no matter how fast I run, They are always there, A reminder of the darkness within. And so I walk this path alone, With the shadows as my only companions, A most constant reminder, Of the battle between light and dark.
