[verse 2] With our tech, in a million years or so, Across the galaxy, our clan could grow. Other life, with a billion-year head start, Should have already settled every part. [verse 3] For decades we've searched the heavens wide, Yet no signals, nor Dyson spheres reside. In this vast and ancient space, Are we the only sentient race? [verse 4] This is the Fermi paradox of great import we were expecting aliens but have none to report. Are great filters past, our luck to hold? Or do future threats our fate enfold? [verse 5] Perhaps too clever by half, minds devise their demise, Innovations turn fatal, under celestial skies. Universal hazards may render evolution futile, Life on one planet may find the cosmos too brutal. [verse 6] Alone on this stage, beneath the vast cosmic view, The only known players, with a role to pursue. With all eggs in one basket, we must take flight, Spread life's precious gift, through the starry night. [verse 7] To boldly go, our mission's call, To infinity and beyond, we will not stall.
