The Risen King

In the garden, where He prayed, He took on the world's darkest shade, With a kiss, betrayal's sting, The journey to the cross would bring. Oh, the weight of sin He bore, In His love forevermore, Crowned with thorns, despised, and torn, For our lives, the Savior mourned. On the cross, He cried out, "It is done!" In His pain, our victory won, Through His wounds, we are healed, In His death, God's love revealed. Pierced hands and wounded side, For our sins, the Son of God died, Darkness fell, the earth did quake, As the veil began to break. Oh, the silence of the grave, But His power could not be stayed, On the third day, light returned, And the stone away was turned. From the grave, He rose in glorious light, Defeating death, His power and might, He is risen, He is King, Let all heaven and nature sing.
