Es war einmal ein glücklicher Elefant, der ging spaziern am Waldesrand. Da kam ein großer bunter Specht, der rief: „Du Elefant, mal echt – wie kommt’s, dass du so glücklich bist? Wie kommt’s, dass du gar nichts vermisst?“ Der Elefant zuckt mit den Ohren, und sagt „Mein Specht, ich weiß es nicht. Den Grund dafür hab ich verloren, ich schick dir, wenn ich’s weiß, Bericht.“ Der Elefant trottete weiter, der Specht saß da, nun etwas heiter. „Wenn der Dickhäuter nicht weiß, warum, dann ist es vielleicht gar nicht dumm, anzunehmen, dass das Glück zu uns kommt, wenn wir ein Stück des Lebens Wichtigkeit vergessen – denn das Leben ist ja kurz bemessen.“ Der Specht flog fort, nun deutlich froh, zufrieden mit dem Status quo. [Instrumental Interlude] Und die Moral von der Geschicht‘: Glücklich ist man, oder nicht.
