濠梁之辩

(Verse 1) Walking on the bridge above the flowing stream, Zhuangzi and Huizi, lost in a dream. Zhuangzi says, "See how the minnows play, That's their joy in the light of day." (Verse 2) "But you're not a fish," Huizi declares, "How can you know what happiness shares?" Zhuangzi laughs, "You're not me, So how can you know what I see?" (Verse 3) Huizi retorts, "I'm not you, it's true, So I can't know your point of view. And since you're not a fish, you see, You can't know their joy, that's plain to me." (Verse 4) Zhuangzi quips, "Let's go back, my friend, Your argument's got a bend. You assumed I knew, so why inquire? I see their joy by the water's side." （end）
