The Gull's Heist

My humble abode with a chicken fillet roll Warm in my hand, comfort for the soul Upon the deck, I took a stance To savor a bite, I spared a glance I spared a glance towards the gray, wild foam Unaware of the thief from the ocean's dome When I was at sea A lonesome day it turned to be It turned to be when a snow-white bird With wings so wide and eyes so keen Did swoop and dive with grace so bold And snatched my meal, into the cold Oh woe betide that thievin' gull Across the waves did fly and pull My lunch from grasp, with hunger grim Left me with naught but this sad hymn This sad hymn, for the heart grows bleak As I wander shores for another streak To the tavern's warmth, my tale I take Where laughter drowns the sorrowful ache I tell of theft beneath the sky so broad Of the brazen bird and the roll it clawed For the sea is cruel and the gull is sly It left me here with but a sigh
