The goat, he pranced with drunken pride Cried, 'I'll fight yon tree, let's side!' Hooves dug in with stubborn sway 'Neath moon's glance to end his fray So sure he could win this bout He charged with a courage shout Lads and lasses gather 'round With pints and tales so grand A goat with horns, head crown On clover fields, he stands He stared down an oak so wide With eyes all fiery bright But the oak, it stood in proud delight Not fazed by the goat's small might Folks cheered on with laughter clear As the goat and tree had their spear And there by the star's soft light The goat gave up the fight
