Me lately ii - Christian Rap

Lately I feel like I need approval, need blessing But for that to come my ego needs to lessen My prideful flesh I’m always gonna be wrestling That, I know for sure not just something that I’m guessing I’ve had it easy I was born in the suburbs I was around eleven when I started reading Proverbs “Let another man praise thee and not thine own mouth” Which means when I say “I’m awesome” I am really headed south. Lately I’ve really been in need of some wisdom Because what my peers say generally is dumb I need the right mindset to be a real Christian LORD just do a work in me until your will is done If I get to witness give me words to speak Because without You, Lord I can’t make a squeak Give a double portion of Elijah’s spirit to me And a testimony that others can see You through me Lately couldn’t help it but I was feeling like a weakling Maybe that’s ‘cause I was kinda trying my own thing I give up my problems to You when I lie in bed And to fix ‘em, LORD, You have given me a toolshed I have acquired a set of skills for my wheelhouse But really none of those can help me in Your real house I’m so thankful that You give me strength every hour Because I’m worse than nothing if I’m living by my power Lately everything start turns out to be confusing I try hard to learn, but take a test and I’m losing I know that giving up really ain’t up for discussion I see a hard task and I don’t prep much I just rush in I guess my problem is that I need to take my time Study like I do when I write these silly rhymes Any gift I have, thank God because it’s sublime Gotta stay sweet, can’t get sour like a lime
