Learning From Mistakes

I hear his words, a voice of reason and care A neutral stance, he takes, with no bias to share He sees the faults in both of us, the flaws and the pain And wants us to have the best, to love again He lectures us, with a gentle tone To solve our problems, and make our love known But we're stuck in a cycle, a vicious spin Unable to break free, and start anew within He suggests we move in together, a test of our love To see if our dynamics change, and our hearts rise above If we can make it work, and find a new way To be happy together, every single day I seem happier with you, when we're side by side Than when we're apart, and my heart feels like it's died But you've hurt me so deep, with your words and your deeds Broken my heart, and made me cry, and left me with painful seeds He disappointed in you, for the pain you've caused For the tears I've cried, and the sleepless nights I've endured He worries about me, and fears for my fate That I'll end up like J, lost and alone, with a heart that's too late But still, he hopes for us, for our love to prevail For us to learn from our mistakes, and our love to set sail So I'll take his words to heart, and try once more To make our love work, and never be a distant shore.
