It seems so long ago, my child You went out into the world Soaking knowledge like a sponge As all to know unfurled But with the good comes all the bad You were scarred by other’s dealings The horrors of the cold cruel world Left you eating all your feelings For all the good that could have been You completely lost direction Made to only see your faults Stranger in your reflection It seems not long ago, sweet child You withdrew from the world Wrapped yourself in armored walls Withstanding all that could be hurled But with the bad comes all the good When sheltered from the Hell Transforming toward the perfect you Within your hardened shell For all the bad that once had been You rose above the clatter Rejecting all the negative For the things that really matter Now, my lovely, lovely child You await your wings to dry Clinging in vulnerability Yet soon you’ll own the sky Accepting both the good and bad That lives inside your skin Discovering, forging, building And loving all within And when the world comes after you With venom, hate and brine Show them who you truly are And BLIND THEM WITH YOUR SHINE
