Barny's Misadventure

[Verse] Barny was a soldier, green and proud he stood, Tasked with fetching units, in a worn and woodsy hood, Ignored his sergeant's orders, thought he'd take a chance, But defiance has a price, in the army's dance. [Verse 2] Sergeant saw him standing, idle at the line, With fire in his eyes, he said, "Boy, you're outta time," "I allow what you're doing, but there’s a heavy toll, Drop and give me thirty, make your push-ups whole." [Chorus] Barny's furies blazing, under the searing sun, Cursing every push-up, but he knew he couldn’t run, The toll of insubordination, a soldier’s bitter creed, Learning hard those lessons, in the army's lead. [Verse 3] Sweat was pouring down, as Barny grit his teeth, Silent vow to listen, and follow like a sheath, Each push-up brought him closer, to understanding might, In the orders and the discipline, lay the soldier's fight. [Bridge] Sergeant's voice was booming, echoing commands, "Learn this well, young Barny, hold your ground and stand," With each repeated echo, the message deeply sunk, In this life of regiment, you rise from where you’ve sunk. [Verse 4] Days turned into weeks, Barny's tone had changed, No more idle standing, in the lines he ranged, Fetchin' units swiftly, with a sharp salute, Lessons of the push-ups, turned a tender shoot.
